Tasha Tuesday: Centennial Celebration!

Hi there, everyone!~ So glad you could stop by for this very extra special Tasha Tuesday! Why is it so special, you ask? Well, because this month one of my most favorite artist/children’s book author, gardener and general queen-of-all-things-old-timey would have been 100 years old! Yep, at the end of this month (August 28) Tasha would have reached her centennial. And well, I think that’s worth celebrating!

For me— as an artist and a mother, Tasha is a great inspiration. She is often quoted as saying “Take Joy!” and “Live the life you have imagined.” She believed in following her dreams, in crafting a life unlike anything that was going on around her, and bringing beauty to the world.
Many times, I have found inspiration in her ability to march to her own beat and her amazing talent that she refined so well over the years. She was also a lover of Christmas and Christmas art, which you know I love!
And her heart, I think, was in the garden. Something else I can relate to!

And so, for the entire month of August I will have some extra special Tasha Tuesdays lined up for you here, and we will have some special treats and giveaways that you can enjoy! And if we’re going to have a virtual birthday tea party, well, the first thing we need is the tea!~

Last month when I was in Vermont, I was able to visit Tasha’s beloved Corgi Cottage and the Tasha Tudor Museum in Brattleboro, VT. I was looking for treats for you all, and chose a bit of the Tasha Tudor Welsh Breakfast Tea, said to be Tasha’s favorite and the blend they serve at the museum (and on the garden tours!)

Entering this giveaway is simple! Just leave a comment here on this post. Tell me— where is your favorite place to drink a nice cuppa? Do you have a favorite flavor? Are you a Tasha Tudor fan or have you just discovered her here on this blog (if you’re new to Tasha Tudor, I suggest visiting the family site HERE.)

I am so excited to get to celebrate Tasha here with you— during the month that the garden is at its peak and autumn is just around the corner! Here’s to that rare cool morning that we all long for, when we can wrap our hands around a nice steaming cup of tea and enjoy some quiet moments. Best of luck on entering this contest, ( Winner to be chosen Friday Aug,.7) perhaps it wont be long until you’re having your own cup of Tasha Tudor tea!

Wishing you, as always, a wonderful Tasha Tuesday!~
~H

  1. Celebrating Tasha this month is the perfect August agenda! Your garden flowers are just gorgeous and that tea set-up is very inviting. Last Fall when I visited the Tasha Museum, it was rainy and cool and the tea served there by the wood stove was most welcome!

  3. I usually like to have mine outside in the morning, when everything is still and quiet. Also in the afternoon, at story time, surrounded by my kiddos. They usually are having their own cup as well.

  6. oh fun! I do not know of this tea blend! I love having tea here with a friend with some of my tea cups. I recently went to a fun tea place with a friend here in NJ. … years ago I had high tea with a friend at the Chateau Laurier and that was really special.

  8. Just last night I discovered the joys of iced cinnamon-apple (herbal) tea. It was an experiment that worked out great! I've always loved Lady Grey tea but due to a medical condition, I cannot have black or green tea, so I've been experimenting with herbal blends. P.S.: beautiful flower arrangement up there. Cheers, Dana Laviano (a.k.a Nieve and Estrellas)

  9. I definitely enjoy an ice cold glass of tea in the summer on a friend's deep front porch with a big scoop of gossip..😉I also enjoy a cup of hot tea especially cinnamon apple at bed time with a good book.

  10. I love so many kinds of tea, but my favorite is Earl Grey with lavender. I like to drink tea at home, either in the morning when it's quiet (which it really never is any more, ha), or at night after the baby goes to bed. You introduced me to Tasha Tudor. 🙂

  13. I love your posts about Tasha Tudor. I heard about her several years ago, but it was your blog which showed me how interesting and inspiring her world is. It’s so sad that we don’t have her books translated into Russian or Lithuanian. Maybe in the future?:)As for tea, I love to drink it in my kitchen. It sounds a little bit boring, but it’s not, actually. We have a big window there with a beautiful view. What could be better than a few moments of quiet meditation.

  14. Oh! And forgot to say that my fave place to drink my tea is my comfy chair in the living room, with my feet up on the ottoman. When I am out of Tasha's tea, I love PG Tips with local, fresh honey and a bit of cream! 🙂

  16. Hi, Heather…how fun it was to share glimpses of your recent visit to Tasha's homestead and neighboring regions. My sister introduced me to her years ago via her book, Private World of Tasha Tudor; what a spunky lady! I most enjoy sipping and surfing the web from the comfort of my home, but there's a great little tearoom nearby that is a special treat to visit. Thanks for the giveaway, and Happy Birthday Tasha!Sharon in Alabama

  18. Well you KNOW I love me some Tasha! I would so adore to try her special blend here. I think my favorite place to have my tea is at my little breakfast table, with a cookbook opened in front of me! I love any and all forms of tea – herbal, black and my beloved green tea. I've pretty much been obsessed with tea and all of its various rituals since I was 14 years old, isn't that funny?

  19. I would love that tea! My favorites are Bigelow Constant Comment – the spices and orange are so nice, and Irish Breakfast – good and strong; but I like most tea flavors. Where? Anyplace is a good spot for tea drinking! I love Tasha Tudor – I have her cookbook, garden book, The Private World of Tasha Tudor, and several of her children's books. (I like her mac & cheese recipe and French dressing.)
