New Painting: St. Lucia’s Light

Hi friends, and good afternoon! I’ve been busy with some projects and it’s finally time to share them with you! First is this new painting, my latest St. Lucia– called “St. Lucia’s Light.” This piece was inspired by Swedish country houses— their beautifully painted walls and old tile stoves— and the tradition of St. Lucia morning.

In this painting the oldest daughter of the household brings her parents the traditional Lucia buns and steaming coffee in the hours before dawn on St. Lucia day (December 13) while her younger siblings watch from the doorway. I have the original painting for sale in my Etsy Shop, as well as prints and notecards!

You can probably tell that St. Lucia Day is one of my favorite subjects to paint– and I hope you enjoy this new piece!

Are you planning on celebrating St. Lucia day this year? We are planning to study St. Lucia this coming week in our homeschool adventures. However, first we are celebrating St. Nicholas Day on Monday! That should be a lot of fun too!

I hope you’re having a wonderful weekend!~

Take Joy!

  1. I love that your paintings contain warm little stories. I remember making breakfast for my parents from an old children’s Betty Crocker cookbook from the library.
