Closing the Year: 2023

My new painting “The Williamsburg Shepherdess

Hello there, friends!

It’s hard to believe, but here we are- on the last day of the year. I feel like I’ve been looking at 2024 for a good long time now, having made my calendar, but tomorrow it finally arrives (or, rather, in just a few hours!)

This year was full and busy in ways that were new to me. There were lots of new experiences and opportunities, and some wonderful adventures with friends! We’d wanted for so long to see Plimouth Plantation, and last year saw that made into a reality! I am so grateful that we were able to make that trip- especially folding it into our school studies. It was an amazing experience to study about the Puritans in Plymouth– and then GO there and see what their lives and homes may have been like!

My hope for the new year is to grow more confident in my rhythm of life and also make more dedicated time to paint. The painting table is calling me, and I am ready to sit down and get to work! I have stored up so many ideas and images in my head this year, it is time to get them out in paint!

I hope that 2024 brings you peace and joy. These last few years have been a tumult for everyone, I think. Illness, loss, change, opportunities, doors shut and doors opened. These things seem to have happened to everyone I know, including myself, these last few years since 2020.

But right now…I hear the church bell ringing from down town, and although the sky is gray and the ground is cold- I know light and growth is coming.

  Here’s to 2024-

Take Joy!~
