New Art: Colonial Lady

Good morning-

For the past few months, I’ve had Colonial America on my mind. I’ve been working on some exciting projects that involve Colonial Virginia, the first of which was this painting, “Colonial Lady.”

Starting last year, we are reaching the 250th anniversary of many of the colonial “Tea Parties”, which began with the Boston Tea Party. That was the name for the night that dozens of disguised Bostonians boarded ships in the harbor loaded with tea and dumped it into the harbor rather than pay the English tax on it.

What you may not know (I didn’t!) is that there several similar ‘tea parties’ up and down the coast of Colonial America, one of which was in Yorktown, VA. in November 1774. I am happy to report that this Colonial Lady, with her tea set in hand and the harbor outside her window, will be the poster image used to celebrate the 250th anniversary in Yorktown this fall!

I currently have prints of this painting in my Etsy Shop, and she will also be in my 2025 Calendar- among some other fun projects! I’ll be back again soon to share more….

Have a wonderful weekend, and

Take Joy!
