Is there anything more ‘old fashioned summer time’, more ‘pure Americana’, than an old clapboard cottage by the New England sea shore? This little collection of folk art cottages was inspired by a summer jaunt to the areas of Salem and Marblehead, MA. a few years back, where my family wandered along the harbor’s edge, watched the sailboats and wandered through little winding seaside streets with a tinge of sea salt in the air.
All these little houses are now for sale in my Etsy Shop, while they last! They had a really great reception on instagram, and I’m thinking I’ll need to paint more, and for every season! You can see each little house up close by clicking on the images below:
Each house has it’s own particular name- like Still Cove Cottage, Strawberry Hill Cottage and Anchor Street Cottage. Can you just imagine the story of each place? Who might live there? A sea captain? A school teacher? An heiress of some old fortune who gazes out at the harbor each night, waiting for a lost love? Well- it’s all ours to decide! Each house can have its own story…

This photo is from Marblehead, MA. looking out at the harbor from the top of Old Burial Hill. Is there anything more quintessential New England than this? These houses overlooking the harbor and ocean beyond were the inspiration for these little painted houses. I hope you enjoy them!
And if you yearn for more Summer in New England, I have a whole blog series about that. Ah, New England! My heart longs for it this time of year!

A Patriot scene from Old Sturbridge Village. Is there anything more homespun American than this?
Wishing you a wonderful weekend, and many thanks for those who give my little houses a new home with them! I appreciate it so much!
Take Joy!
