Giveaway: Print of St. Brigid

The last day of January finds itself cold, gray and raining all day. I had big plans to work on some home improvement projects, but there just didnt end up being enough time to get it done. So instead, I’m snug inside and bringing you a treat!

The Feast of St. Brigid comes tomorrow, February 1! Since I just completed my Brigid painting and got in some prints, i thought it would be fun to give one of them away! So— if you’d like your own St. Brigid, you’re in luck!

Entering to win the 8×10″ print (unframed, but it will come nicely packaged!) is easy— just leave a comment on this post with a means to contact you. Tell me why you’d like Brigid— or suggest another saint for me to paint! I feel a series coming on!

My middle name is Brigid which I've come to learn is uncommon. Most girls with that name are spelled Bridget. In our family each of us celebrate our name days so I would love love love to have this print to celebrate my connection with her. Thanks so much for the chance to win!

Did you know St Brigid was a midwife? My wife is a doula and I'd like to get her a gift to remind her that what she does is amazing.Also, paint Bl. Olga of Alaska. She too was a midwife and is a patron for the sexually abused.I'll share this on Twitter, Facebook, and Instagram, too!

I would love to own this lovely portrait of St. Brigid because she's my patron saint of the year. Every year my blog readers pick a saint for me to learn about and be my patron and St. Brigid was chosen for this year. As a hibernophile with some possible Irish roots (still digging through the family tree) it's been fun for me to learn about her.For future saints, I'd suggest Bl. I was just looking at this print in your shop earlier today! Perfect. We love St Brigid… I would suggest St Ita of Killeedy (sometimes called Deirdre) for another painting! When I converted to Orthodoxy I took Brendan as my patron. I recently just learned about St Oda, and how she was the foster mother of St Brendan for his early years!

Hello Heather, I will be listening to this with our children today, The Life of Saint Brigid: Abbess of Kildare, written by my friend Jane G. As I'm bombarded with suggestions of good books and good lives to present to my \”Mighty Girl,\” I think the female saints are the \”Mightiest of Girls.\” And I just read this yesterday: \”As for the saints who are in the earth, They are the majestic ones in whom is all my delight.\” As for other saints, our children's names are celebrated on the Archangel Gabriel's feast day, and also Saint Lucia's feast day. I would like to see a St. Lucia done in the same style you've done St. Brigid (which would be different than the paintings you've done of oldest girls dressed up to celebrate the Lucia bride). Please consider painting Julian of Norwich. She is thought to have lost her family during the Black Plague and yet believed in a God of love rather than wrath. She is also typical painted with a cat.I remember her \”mantra\” often as I needed to be reminded that God is in control. \”All will be well. All will be well. All will be well in the end\”. It's a simple but powerful prayer.

Mark T. -I love St. Brigid because she is one of the patron saints of Ireland and I am Irish. Other saints to consider would be St. John Baptist la Salle, patron saint of educators. Others would be St. Patrick, patron saint of Ireland. St. Andrew, patron saint of Scotland. St. Francis of Assisi or St. Mark the Evangelist, patron saint of Venice, Italy.

I love St. Brigid because she is my confirmation saint and we have a niece that died at 2 weeks old named Brigid, so I know she's another little Brigid that can intercede for us in heaven. I'd suggest St. Jude! Even though he's popular and his image appears a lot of places, they are often very \”flat\” and standard and I'd love to see the depth you'd give him.

\”Dunne\” is Irish, we love out St. Brigid picture books, and my two new frames still have God Jul and Santa Lucia in them and the Christmas season is coming to a close. Beautiful work! I will share on FB too.
