Free Pattern: “Pactum Serva” from Kristin Lavransdatter

Hi Friends,

Continuing on with our exploration of Sigrid Undset’s novel Kristin Lavransdatter I have a free gift- for all of you! A cross stitch pattern pattern chart with the Latin phrase “Pactum Serva”, which in English means “Keep Thy Faith.” This is the phrase etched upon the sword Erland inherited from his friend Sigmund Torolfsson, and it is the sword that Kristin held across her lap as her family left Husaby for the last time.

This cross stitch pattern was stitched on 14 count Aida cloth and stitched with 3 strands of DMC floss. The colors used are DMC 918 and DMC 926. You will find the chart to stitch this pattern for yourself below. Right click and ‘save’ to your computer to save pattern.

Pattern uses 14 count Aida class and stitched with 3 strands of DMC 918 and DMC 926

I hope you enjoy stitching this piece– it’s a pretty quick project, and can be used in many different ways. You could stitch the Aida cloth to a journal cover, a bag, or even use it to make a rosary pouch. If you stitch this piece, I’d love to see what you come up with!

There is still one more day to enter the contest to win a Kristin Lavrasdatter themed print (ENTER HERE) and I hope you come back for future posts of “Fika and Folk Art!”

Thanks so much for your visit! Hope to see you again soon!
Take Joy,

H
