Hi friends!~
I have a fun project to tell you about! This year I am thrilled to be joining Jules from Wool Maiden with her offering of “Yule & Yarn Advent” boxes, created and inspired by her life as a shepherdess with a beautiful flock in the mountains of western Canada! I was honored to be asked to use my painting “Mountain Home Santa” as inspiration for her holiday colorway for this yarn collection. Along with the yarn, you will also receive 11 handmade or locally sourced gifts from Jules! Here is a bit more information from her website:
“Your magical package includes one full skein of Folklore yarn plus 12 mini skeins, also Folklore yarn in Sport weight. That is a total yardage of approximately 1,308 metres (1,428 yards)!
In addition, the Advent Calendar includes a special Farm Fresh skein of undyed, sheep coloured yarn grown by one of our very own beloved woolies here at Gladsheim Farm.
Also included are 11 little gifts either handmade by myself or purchased, mostly from other small local businesses. Each package comes wrapped in white tissue paper and tied with red yarn to keep it a festive secret, with a special sticker to match the day of the month.
The Folklore yarn is a blend of 75% wool, 15% cashmere, and 10% silk. The full skeins are 384 metres (420 yards) per 115 grams (4 ounces) while the mini skeins are approximately 77 metres (84 yards) per 23 grams (0.8 ounces). The colour palette inspiration is Heather Sleightholm’s “Mountain Home Santa” with rich, deep colours of velvety burgundy, midnight blue, dark green, deep brown and icy grey with a little gold and white in there, too. Variations of these colours will appear as tonals, semi-solids, variegated, and some speckled yarn.
The pre-ordering will last until Friday, October 14 and packages will be mailed out at the beginning of November to ensure you have them to begin opening on December 1st, 2022.”
To help inspire your knitting, you will also receive a 5×7″ mini print of my painting, Mountain Home Santa in the box!
I have enjoyed following Jules and her beautiful flock (she has a little sheep named Sigrid!!!) on instagram, and can’t wait to see how the beautiful boxes turn out! If you’d like to see a big more about Wool Maiden, you can visit her on instagram or check out this wonderful video about her farm–
If you purchase one of these beautiful Advent boxes and knit something up, be sure to tag us online so that we can see your beautiful creation!
Wishing you a wonderful weekend— Take Joy!
